Midwinter Haiku
The low sun slants grey shafts
between the Hoy hills; light fills
the Rackwick valley
Great wings beat in
sweeping white across the Sound.
Waves break at Braga
Among broken walls
at Breckness a ewe lies down
with her Solstice lamb.
